We have been asked by a lot of people on what is involved in the building of a Resophonic Guitar, The information we present here is my own personal thoughts and ideas, First let me say that I don't consider myself an expert on building a Resophonic Guitar we used a lot of different sources to build the ones we have built,
Some things you will need to consider is do you have a place to do the job it is not a kitchen table project, because of the sanding and dust. there is a a lot of clamps that you will need and a lot of hand work, You will find a lot of useful information at Stewart McDonald Information which is explained in detail on the things you will need and the proper steps to do this project. also you can order the parts to build a Resophonic Guitar from them so you can do it in steps and take your time or as money permits.
You can also order a Kit from Paul Beard Guitars which is all the parts you will need to build your Guitar this kit contain every thing you will need except glue, sandpaper and elbow grease. also Paul Beard has a real nice Video that you will find useful in the setup and a lot of information you can use.
The building of a Resophonic Guitar is a lot of fun to do and you will get a lot of pleasure out of doing it your self, but let me say it will cost you in the range of $400.00 to $600,00 to do depending on the stuff you do to it. but you get the satisfaction of doing it and you can always say that I did it myself sort of a male thing GRiN. We have built 2 of them we made a few mistakes on the first one and did better on the second one you can never have too many Dobro's. or that is what we told the wife.
